From October 19 to 30, 2026, Armenia will host the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, a landmark event bringing together global leaders, experts, and stakeholders to advance the protection of biodiversity.

With the slogan Taking Action for Nature, COP17 aims to position Armenia at the center of international biodiversity efforts while promoting tangible steps for environmental protection.

In preparation for the event, the Executive Coaching and Training Institute (ECTI) has launched a series of training programs aimed at raising awareness among Armenian youth, particularly those from rural areas.

The courses, designed for students, private-sector stakeholders, and startup founders, draw on materials and methodologies (know-how) from the UCL Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources and are taught by instructors trained at University College London (UCL).

The training series will culminate in a final seminar held ahead of COP17, featuring UCL representatives as keynote speakers, offering participants a unique opportunity to engage directly with international biodiversity experts and to translate knowledge into local action.

COP17 in Armenia represents a pivotal moment not only for global biodiversity discussions but also for fostering environmental awareness and active participation among the next generation of sustainability leaders for Armenia.
